[00:00:00] – Introduction**
Welcome to *She Who Rises*, the podcast for women who refuse to stay small. Here, we dive deep into the messy, the magical, and the maddening journey of stepping into your full power.
This is where soul meets strategy, energy meets action, and where you are reminded every week that you are stronger than you know, wiser than you think, and more powerful than you have ever been told.
[00:00:35] – The Lost Connection to Our Bodies**
Today, we’re talking about the lost art of connecting with our bodies.
While coaching, NLP, and talking therapies are powerful tools for change, there’s another step we can take—learning to listen to our body’s wisdom. Somatic practices help us tune in to what our body is saying rather than overthinking everything.
The best part? You don’t need to be an expert to start. This is something we’ve always known—we’ve just forgotten it.
[00:02:05] – How Women Used to Live in Tune with Their Bodies**
For centuries, women lived in tune with nature’s cycles.
We bled with the moon, harvested with the seasons, and saw our bodies as sacred maps of rhythm and intuition. Ancient cultures understood this—the Celts, the Greeks, the Egyptians all honoured the cycles of birth, death, and rebirth.
Women gathered in red tents, marking their menstrual cycles with rest, reflection, and wisdom. There were rituals for the moon phases, ceremonies for fertility, and an understanding that the body wasn’t something to control—it was something to trust.
Midwives, medicine women, and healers worked in harmony with nature, deeply connected to the cycles of life.
[00:04:05] – How We Lost Trust in Our Bodies**
Over time, this wisdom was eroded.
Women who carried healing knowledge were persecuted as witches. Medicine shifted towards a model where external experts knew better than the body itself.
Then came patriarchal systems, industrialisation, and war, which pushed us into productivity over presence.
- Work culture demands we show up every day like machines, ignoring our body’s natural cycles.
- Diet culture has replaced the joy of food with calorie counting and body shame.
- School and medical systems have conditioned us to override our natural hunger, fatigue, and intuition.
Slowly, we have been taught not to trust ourselves.
[00:06:30] – The Impact of Disconnection**
This loss of connection has consequences.
- Anxiety, burnout, chronic fatigue—all signs we are living out of sync with our body’s natural rhythm.
- Many of us are pushing through exhaustion, believing rest is a weakness.
- We say yes when our body is screaming no.
- Even pregnancy and birth—once sacred rites—have been medicalised and controlled, leaving many women disconnected from their own birthing power.
The result? A world where women are exhausted, disconnected, and out of tune with themselves.
[00:09:30] – The Power of Somatic Practices**
So, how do we reclaim our body’s wisdom?
The answer isn’t more thinking—it’s feeling. Somatic practices like breath, movement, and sound can help us reconnect with our bodies.
The best part? We don’t need permission.
We don’t need a doctor, a coach, or an expert to tell us. We already know how to do this—we’ve just forgotten.
[00:10:30] – Breath: The Fastest Way to Safety**
Breathwork is one of the quickest ways to tell our body: “You are safe.”
Deep, slow breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which counteracts stress and anxiety.
Try this now:
1. Place one hand on your belly and one on your heart.
2. Inhale through your nose for four counts.
3. Hold for four counts.
4. Exhale through your mouth for six counts.
Repeat this until you feel your shoulders drop, your jaw unclench, and your body soften.
[00:12:00] – Movement: Releasing Stuck Energy**
We don’t just store emotions in our mind—we store them in our body.
- Trauma, stress, and old patterns get stuck in our muscles and nervous system.
- Shaking is one of the easiest ways to release them.
Animals do this naturally after stress—they shake it off. We can do the same.
- Shake your arms, shake your legs, shake everything for one to two minutes.
- Dance. Move freely.
- No rules, no routine—just feel into it.
[00:13:30] – Sound: The Healing Power of Your Voice**
Sound is another powerful tool for release.
- Humming, sighing, roaring like a lion—all ways to clear stuck energy.
- Even a deep, loud yawn can be a way to let go.
Try this now:
1. Place your hand on your heart.
2. Hum for 30 seconds and feel the vibration in your body.
3. Take a deep breath and let out a long, loud sigh.
You don’t need to be silent. You don’t need to shrink yourself. Take up space. Make noise. Be present.
[00:15:30] – Trusting Your Body Changes Everything**
For years, we have been conditioned to ignore our needs—to ignore pain, push through exhaustion, and put others first.
But what if, instead of fighting our bodies, we listened to them?
- Rest when you’re tired.
- Eat when you’re hungry.
- Move when you need to move.
This isn’t just about personal healing. When a woman trusts her body, she trusts her voice. And when one woman rises, it makes space for others to rise too.
[00:17:00] – A Small Step Today
I invite you to take one small step today:
- Notice your breath.
- Dance freely in your kitchen.
- Use your voice—say no, laugh loudly, or even roar.
Your body is always speaking to you.
The question is—are you ready to listen?
[00:18:00] – Closing Thoughts: Rise with Us
My hope for this podcast is to inspire you to trust your inner wisdom.
Within every woman lies a force older than time—a deep, untamed knowing of the feminine.
- Your intuition whispers.
- Your body holds the truth.
- Your fire never dies.
Take a breath. Make some noise. Take up space.
Let’s rise. Wild. Strong. Unstoppable.
